The experience of AST

35 Years ago, Piet Kreeft started his career in the research and development department of Koni shock absorbers in the Netherlands. After a short period in R&D, Piet specialized in suspension technology for sports and racing applications. Five days a week he worked on the development of shock absorbers, while his weekends were spent on race tracks all over the world where he built up a wealth of experience and knowledge.

He maintained close contact with the engineers and drivers of the cars and was able to test new shock absorber designs at very short notice, where it counted, on the track.

The shock absorbers designed and built by Piet Kreeft have helped many drivers cross the finish line as a race winner. Among the many famous names was Emmerson Fittipaldi driving Indycars in Indianapolis, USA. After leaving Koni, Piet combined his extensive knowledge and experience in shock absorber technology with the specialist manufacturing and production know how of the Smits Engineering Works of Valkenswaard, this led to the creation of AST.
